Are you serious? Is this real?
Yes. We started in 2012, we got funded through Kickstarter, we have videos and a Squirrel Shoppe, and we’re still going strong.
Can I get involved? If so, how?
Yes, you can. We’re looking for volunteer Squirrel Sighters for our October 2015 Census. We’re also seeking Squirrel Census Ambassadors at colleges across the Eastern U.S.
How do you know you’re not counting the same squirrel twice?
We do count squirrels twice. Maybe even more than twice. It’s all part of the methodology.
Why are you doing this?
We never ask, “Why?” We ask, “Why not?” But if you need a better reason: We’re telling a story, and we’re using just about every form of media to do it. The story is about the Eastern gray and Inman Park, but it’s also about the Squirrel Census team. And it’s unfolding in real time. Aside from that, we just want to get outside, make friends, and find out how many squirrels are out there.
Can I buy your maps or t-shirts?
Yep, head over to our Squirrel Shoppe for all your Inman Park Squirrel Census shopping needs.
Do you speak or lecture about the Squirrel Census?
Yes, we do. We have appeared at Confluence in Rome (GA), Nerd Nite in Atlanta, Atlanta Studies, Emory University, Georgia State University, and more. We’re always open to new opportunities.
